Algunas personas nacen para hacer ciertas cosas; Aleksei nació para ser modelo.
Photography is more than
just capturing a moment; it is a canvas for creative exploration. It is a
passion, a job, a profession, and a hobby all in one for me and for Aleksei
Tiurin. I am a photographer and he is a model. This is not just an activity—it is
part of who we are.
I have known Aleksei for
years and we have shot many times together. Nobody comes close to him. He is a
unique talent; he has something special inside. With many models, I have to
help them find their direction, but with Aleksei, I just follow his lead. I
coach people for public speaking, modelling, and screen acting, but with
Aleksei, I just let him flow because he knows more than I do and I don’t want
to cut his "thing."
Some people are born to do
things; Aleksei was born to be a model.
For this series, while
respecting the photograph itself, I additionally wanted to push the boundaries
of portraiture by merging photography with digital illustration. After
capturing these shots, I used my graphic tablet to hand-paint "digital
splodges" and abstract shapes directly over the images, creating a
"hybrid art" style that adds a new dimension to the portrait as an
alternative.
These are the full-colour
versions of the session captured at Yeguada Fernández de la Vega in the Under
Pleasure Fotodays event. I also have these available in a black-and-white,
high-contrast, grainy Fujifilm film-like aesthetic.
There were many people taking photos that day. If my pictures are not instantly
clearly 100% recognisable as taken by me then they have no value as art. This
is my challenge.
Now I will enter them into international photography awards competitions. If I
am not at least finalist in them it will be a fail for me.
Model: Aleksei Tiurin Professional
male model from Russia based out of Madrid Spain. Working internationally. Aleksei’s
career spans years and continents. He was previously based in Asia: China and
Hong Kong.

La fotografía es mucho más que capturar un momento; es un lienzo para la
exploración creativa. Es una pasión, un trabajo, una profesión y una afición,
todo en uno, tanto para mí como para Aleksei Tiurin. Yo soy fotógrafo y él es
modelo. Esto no es solo una actividad, es parte de quienes somos.
Conozco a Aleksei desde hace años y hemos trabajado juntos muchas veces.
Nadie se le acerca. Es un talento único; tiene algo especial en su interior.
Con muchos modelos tengo que ayudarlos a encontrar su dirección, pero con
Aleksei, simplemente sigo su ejemplo. Entreno a personas en oratoria, modelaje
y actuación para cine, pero con Aleksei simplemente dejo que fluya porque sabe
más que yo y no quiero cortar su "esencia".

Para esta serie, respetando la fotografía en sí, también quise ampliar los
límites del retrato fusionando la fotografía con la ilustración digital.
Después de capturar estas tomas, utilicé mi tableta gráfica para pintar a mano
"manchas digitales" y formas abstractas directamente sobre las
imágenes, creando un estilo de "arte híbrido" que añade una nueva
dimensión al retrato como alternativa.
Estas son las versiones en color de la sesión capturada en la Yeguada
Fernández de la Vega durante el evento Under Pleasure Fotodays. También las
tengo disponibles con una estética en blanco y negro, de alto contraste y
granulosidad, similar a la película Fujifilm.
Había muchas personas tomando fotos ese día. Si mis imágenes no son
instantáneamente reconocibles al 100% como tomadas por mí, entonces no tienen
valor como arte. Este es mi desafío.
